Kidney Profile
October 9, 2023Hepatic Panel
October 11, 2023The inflammation profile blood test measures substances in the blood that indicate inflammation. Inflammation can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term) and can result from infections, autoimmune disorders, cancers, and other inflammatory conditions. Here are some common components of an inflammation profile:
- C-Reactive Protein (CRP):
- Standard CRP Test: Measures the overall CRP level in the blood. It’s used to detect inflammation due to various causes.
- High-Sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP): Specifically measures very low levels of CRP and is used to assess the risk of cardiovascular disease.
- Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR or Sed Rate): This test measures how quickly red blood cells settle at the bottom of a test tube. A faster than normal rate might indicate inflammation in the body.
- Rheumatoid Factor (RF):
- RF is an autoantibody, is another important blood test often included when assessing inflammatory conditions, particularly when rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
